Jonny - were you able to find any help on this? I'm wondering if the hair
loss your son experienced was patchy or general. I'm currently
experiencing patchy hair loss; the (equivocal) diagnosis was lichen
planopolaris. The cause and treatment aren't well defined. One treats
symptoms and essentially hopes it goes away of its own accord - not
very satisfying. I'm wondering if your experience is similar.

I have Lichen Planopolaris also, I get monthly steroid injections also. I have ordered the LP-tab over the internet and it seems to be keeping my scalp from flaring up. My only complaint is they take forever to ship the tablets to you.
